Chinese Radish - an update

As I was checking on the status of my potted fruit and vegetable plants I was surprised when I saw my Chinese Radish, I sow these seeds on the 22nd of this month and two days after, it has started to germinate..

...and was even more surprised the next day when I saw that leaves have eventually sprouted.

given that this radish have eventually started to show leaves, i have decided to do the thinning process and hope that what is left will continually grow.

I often wonder why it becomes difficult to germinate seeds on our small balcony in the past weeks, since these radish were not the first set of seeds that I tried to germinate.  To my surprise, since we have an open balcony and since my wife and I at work during the day, it was just lately that I have noticed that our balcony is being constantly visited by small birds.

To make sure that these radish of mine will survive I have decided to place a plastic screen around the pot, hopeful to deter the birds from pecking the seedlings.

Here's for the best to come, cheers!
